Road Rage in the UK – Understanding Angriest Drivers

Road Rage in the UK: Understanding Angriest Drivers road rage incident can be incredibly dangerous for both the perpetrator and other drivers, as it’s likely to lead to some sort of aggressive behaviour. The most obvious is shouting and gesticulating out of the window, which can escalate a situation into a full-blown fight between two people who could potentially end up hurting each other or themselves, but some extreme examples can go much further.

In these situations, the person who’s raging at other drivers may even wind down their windows to give them a direct earful of their frustration. These people also often make threatening gestures and honk or swerve out of their lanes, and could possibly end up causing an accident, which isn’t good for anyone, especially other drivers.

It’s important to remember that not everyone who behaves aggressively on the road is a raging lunatic and that they may have a very good reason for doing so. It’s possible they may have had a bad day and are just letting that out in their driving, or perhaps they’re in the middle of a heated argument in the back of their car and that’s influencing their emotions.

Interestingly, we’ve also discovered that some UK cities are more prone to road rage than others. Nottingham has emerged as the ‘road rage capital’, with almost three-quarters of drivers there saying that they experience rage behind the wheel! Other hotspots include London, Sheffield and Birmingham. The least angry drivers are found in Newcastle and Liverpool. We also learned that the vehicle inducing the most rage is a sports car, with over a third of drivers saying that it makes them feel stressed on the roads.
